Sarswati puja, a festival celebrated in honour of the Hindu goddess of wisdom and knowledge, is meant to be a time of joy and happiness. However, for many orphans, old age home residents and needy students, it can often be a time of loneliness and isolation. They feel left out as they do not have any family to celebrate with.
Celebrating Saraswati Puja With Students

The Prakriti Foundation focuses on environmental conservation and the promotion of sustainable living practices. Every year, the foundation hosts a Saraswati Puja event to celebrate the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, and art. Prakriti Foundation has always been involved in various cultural & social activities. The main reason for this was to make our team more motivated and get more involved in social activities. We also wanted to create a sense of community among our team members.
It can be difficult to maintain a healthy balance in life while attending college and taking care of other responsibilities. For students who struggle with anxiety and depression, it can be even more difficult to keep up with daily activities. There are many helpful activities that can be adopted in order to teach how to maintain the life cycle. These activities can help reduce stress levels and promote positive emotions.
Our main focus area is students, who come all way round from other states such as – Ph.D. students. Prakriti Foundation observed generally exams conducted will be in the month of October. The people or students who come from out can’t go back to their place as they will be having exams and even can’t focus on the exams. Their mind will be only on home, puja & food varieties.
Creating A Positive Environment
Prakriti Foundation invites students who are needy with basic wants and also who are non-local, which reflects in reducing homesickness feelings may be difficult for some but may be accomplished by remaining on campus during the week and on weekends. When we conduct cultural activities, students have homily food, healthy and traditional food for at least one day they feel at home, which is essential in a student’s life.
Attending festivals organized by Prakriti Foundation has been a great experience for many students. They feel counselled freely and are able to listen to their peers. In addition, they help other students get back on track.
The Saraswati Puja event was very successful and it brought together members of our team who don’t usually get a chance to interact with each other. We’re already planning our next event and we hope to continue organizing cultural events in the future.
